Presentation / AGM 31st July, 2011
39 members, partners and children enjoyed our second annual AGM/Presentation /Lunch at the Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club. The din from the adjoining birthday party was a bit overpowering when trying to hear what was being said but did not detract too much from the opportunity to deal with the most important day in the life of the Club or distract the kids colouring-in efforts. Presentation of Annual Reports, Awards and Board Member elections were slotted in amongst the meals and socialising. Well done.

Thank you all,
the Parade wentwell we got the V12 going , the volcano worked well. The logo sail worked after a few hickups the solar charged bud lights worked well for about 30min then sut down which was unfortunate as the parade had another couple of hours to go turning them on again every so often gave 5 second bursts. The few days in the sun after buying them didn’t charge them up enough.
Talking to a electrician today he said they can take a few weeks to charge! the instructions didn’t have any charge time.
But the punters didn’t seem to notice, we drew a lot of attention all helped by a large black dog in a pink hula skirt on the V12 iaku deck. All up with the OC6 and the 2 doubles and single. The crowds were impressed.
Australia Day, The Maritime Festival would have liked a full on activities as a few races but understood our over committed situation we agreed to (if we had enough paddlers ) to do a promenade paddle which we did from 8.45 to 10.45.
lost one of our crew with injury but we went ahead and it went well the crowds were a bit down the first hour and picked up . We had a good view of many of the activities including a cannon shot across the bows.
We drew a lot of attention and the compare gave us a good few good plugs.
A few days of back to back activities does stretch a small clubs resources but its worth it.
Do it again? yes but do things a bit differently in the planning.
Thank you all again.
Cheers
Richard
A top day to be blessed!!!
It was a +30 degree, +15knot NW and a flood boosted runout tide…..almost passed the yachts in the parade without paddling. The tugboat ballet almost had the crew wanting to do some wash-riding.
12 paddlers managed to overcome the ravages of Xmas party celebrations etc (eternal damnation to the rest of you)…….but no blessing could be sufficient for this lot but they did look the part and no doubt the peasants lining the foreshore will not forget the tormented bodies….see attached pictures, more to come …Rae, Petra & George, Troy, Pip & Jeremy, Kathy, Lindsay, jen V, Brett, Chris, Steve
As usual, Cheffie was a highlight with his pirate’s clobber and stuffed talking parrot….didn’t look too outa place at the Yacht Club afterwards where we had to partake of a cleansing ale
Isabel would like to gather our club together at her place for an Xmas drink and nibbles after the members get back from Cook Is. Sat 4th December to have Brunch/lunch (after Training) at Isabel’s place bring swimmers and drinks. Food will be provided.
