When one stops and reflects on the ongoing activities of NLMOCC, and the individual effort that goes into all we do, we have every right to feel proud of our achievements.
Since the last Committee Meeting in March we have competed in another two regattas. The State Titles at Cronulla and the Long Reef Regatta. Cronulla saw our first junior’s competing. It was a great effort by all who attended. Our Junior Crew joined with Five Islands and got GOLD. Our Master Women & GM Mixed also got GOLD. A fantastic result for all.
The last weekend in April will see more Regatta involvement at Port Stephens. Then it’s Hamilton Island in June. Good luck to all those competing.
A club activity that was just a little bit different took place last Tuesday when our coach Steve, with the help of some of our members held a very successful training session for the Newcastle Jets. Check our website for photos and Steve’s report.
As you are aware a lot of work and commitment is involved in both preparing and organising competing teams. Many thanks to Steve for his coaching and encouragement.
Our first WEA course is now complete. The second one starts next week with 17 people enrolled for the Level 1 course. There is more WEA activity planned for the very near future, including WEA School holiday activities which started last week. Great work from Richard who has been the chief driver of this initiative, and many thanks to all who contributed. If you would like to assist with this Richard would love to hear from you.
Our Club caps are now available at $12 each. Please contact Kathy Spong to secure your cap. They are selling fast. Also Kathy is taking orders for our club dress shirts.
Just a reminder that our major fundraising event as cleaning specialists at the Lovedale Long Lunch will be on 14th & 15th May. We need as many members as possible to get involved. Money raised from this goes a long way to provide and maintain the equipment we all use. Please contact Helen Mauric re your availability and preferred day.
For those of you interested in buying Entertainment books, please contact Kathy Spong. They are great value $60 each with $12 from each book sold going to the club.
Not surprising with all of the NLMOCC activity, our membership continues to grow. A big welcome to all new members.
Just a reminder that NLMOCC hold monthly committee meetings on either the first Monday or Tuesday of each month. These meetings are open to all Members. NLMOCC welcomes your participation. The next meeting will be at 630pm Tuesday 3 May at Kahibah Bowling Club.
NLMOCC AGM is coming up soon. This meeting will be held either July or August. If you are interested in a Club Executive position and would like a run down on what is involved please contact any of the current executive, They will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
NLMOCC Presentation Day / Night will be held in July at Newcastle Yacht Club. Date & time to be announced
In the meantime many thanks to all of you for your ongoing commitment to NLMOCC. Happy paddling.
