winter paddling

Got a problem that needs your help…….

During Winter  (or any time) when its cold, dark, windy, raining you decide that you really should clear your head with an OC session. Before you can answer the question of “will I be the only one attending?” you have turned off the alarm and left your mates one person short.!

Couple of years ago, we had a sort of ‘diary’ happening where members would contact me if they were likely to attend a session. These people were then the first contact if for whatever reason (weather, lack of numbers etc) the session was to be cancelled.  Probably not important for you ‘locals’ but if travelling from the likes of Singleton, Bellbird, C’bong, Tronna or have arranged child care etc it really irks.

Yeh I know there are all sorts of fancy calendars hanging with Google and Yahoo.  But let’s KISS and simply send email if planning to attend & let a better system evolve???

Winter Paddling Sessions

Until maybe September our Tuesday morning OC6 session is staying in bed.

Training days will be:

Wednesday  530pm,

Thursday 530am,

Saturday 6am

Sunday 7am

Sunday will be dropped if numbers are not happening. Considering making it an OC1/2 day anyhow seeing as we have lots of little boats now: may even start out of Horseshoe Beach

Even if the outside temperature is single digit and the doona / ‘mum’ is warmer, the air near water level is close to water temp………..and that’s before you start paddling.

A number of us are keeping fit ready for the start of the OC1/2 season and the Cooks crew will need motivation as well so come along.

See you on the water. !!

time trials

Saturday 10th Feb.

@ Carrington

545am start – hopefully will have the use of a number of AOCRA (Stealth) canoes to speed up the show. Also, could have a couple of V1’s to demo

If you want to be happier with the coaching team guessing your ability come team selection time then use this trial to add to your creds.

Junior paddling

The club agreed last Tuesday night that we would encourage the Juniors to attend the Sunday morning sessions. Depending on numbers/weather etc the program will be adjusted so that the kids may get a hit out with the adults or by themselves with me if more targeted (hard core) sessions are planned for regatta prep’ns etc.

BRING THEM ALONG !

Report on the lunch and agm

Presentation / AGM 31st July, 2011

39 members, partners and children enjoyed our second annual AGM/Presentation /Lunch at the Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club. The din from the adjoining birthday party was a bit overpowering when trying to hear what was being said but did not detract too much from the opportunity to deal with the most important day in the life of the Club or distract the kids colouring-in efforts.  Presentation of Annual Reports, Awards and Board Member elections were slotted in amongst the meals and socialising. Well done.
